If I were you - Chapter 1 - RowanParker (2024)

Chapter Text

"Stop you two fighting! You're worse than two children!" Liu Kang, the great and powerful god of fire, with his enormous reputation for being a sensible, correct and serene man, completely lost his attitude when it came to his apprentices, or rather two of them called Johnny and Kenshi.

The two men managed to drive him crazy and he was almost certain that he was slowly losing his hair due to the stress he felt dealing with them.

"Tell him to stop then, because he started it!" The actor, a tall and strong American man, with brown hair and eyes, with a characteristic prominent nose, exclaimed like a younger son pointing at the man in front of him handing him over.

"I only did it because you don't want to give me my f*cking uniform!" Takahashi, a man of the same height and robust body, with black hair and eyes, he has a clear Asian descent in his features. There were many tattoos spread across his body but no one knows how it is because he always covered them with many pieces of clothing, ensuring that no one could see them under any circ*mstances. Maybe some mystery past? Who knows?

Kenshi had the advantage, giving the man a headlock.

"It doesn't matter who started what. They are both wrong after all, no conflict can be resolved with war. I taught them about it." The man had to intervene to loosen them and move them a few centimeters away. "It's getting more and more impossible to deal with you two. You never seem to learn how to work as a team!"

"That's why I prefer to work alone..." Kenshi muttered.

"But what about on a mission? Look, not everything can be resolved alone, and that's what I want to teach you here. After all, you'll have some missions together to accomplish. Do you understand?" The fire god ended up changing, increasing without realizing the tone.

The two boys, frightened by what he was capable of, just nodded silently and continued their training. It was just a few more minutes of silence before they had another fight and Liu Kang had to intervene again.

"What was it this time?" The man asked impatiently placing his hand between his eyebrows.

"It was him again!" Cage yelled. "He broke my cell phone!" It showed the device broken into the middle of it's screen, showing that the other's act was intentional.

"Because you kept taking pictures of me without my permission!"

"Stop!" Liu Kang was so furious that flames came out around his body. "You two! Just..." He sighed impatiently. "Get out of here!" He screamed.

"But..." Johnny tried to defend himself. "What about my cell phone??" He asked.

"It doesn't matter, I told you not to bring him here, as they are on a spiritual retreat! So please you too...Leave quickly!" The two men left with some distance between them, and so Liu Kang had another day of training lost just because of these two fighting again.

He was already tired of fighting with them so much without having any results, it even stressed out the calmest of the monks.
He then sat down on a wooden bench on the porch next to Raiden and Kung Lao (who mysteriously always had some food with him) who sat awaiting their training.

"Sorry about that guys...Again." The god of cute sighed, dropping into his seat.

"It's okay, we understand it wasn't your fault." Raiden, a young Cantonese boy in his early twenties, was the youngest of the group, but this fact did not prevent him from being the most sensible and responsible of the others. There was something special about him, which always brought a twinge of hope in Kang's chest. "These two are difficult..." The boy said.

"I don't understand. I try to do everything. I-I've done activities in pairs...I've made them talk and... I've even done them in the same dorm but nothing! None of that helps and it's making me leaving exhausted." Liu Kang couldn't comprehend it, he had worked on so many complex tasks, fights and creations but nothing compared to separating the conflict of an actor and an agent.

"It turns out, the two are completely opposite people with different life histories experiencing different things." Lao finally commented, finishing eating. "People like this live in conflict, because on top of all that they are hard-headed and not empathetic enough to put themselves in someone else's shoes and understand them." Kung Lao, another young peasant from the farm, a man more robust and taller than Raiden, stood out with an extravagant black hat and a hunger that seemed to have no end. What he said really caught Liu Kang, as if a light bulb had turned on over his head at that moment.

"I think that was one of the smartest things you've ever said." Raiden admitted and the other made a convinced gesture, returning to his food. "Liu Kang...?" The fire god quickly got up, leaving without warning the two boys.

"I...I have business to attend to." He responded in a hurry for the boy. "Training is over for today. So take the day off."

"Okay..."
