Falace in Wonderland: Dinner and a Deviant show at Grand Daddy

Intimate 50-seater restaurant, ALICE, brings a whimsical story to life with a modern twist: Falace in Wonderland. Set within the popular, luxe Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel, the restaurant transforms into a theatre every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. This new tongue-in-cheek musical delves into the adventures of Alice’s journey through the perilous, let playful, adventures of today’s online dating. An adults-only spectacle of sing-alongs, burlesque and naughty humour, paired with an innovative dining experience, offers an evening audiences are unlikely to forget.

The Boy and the Heron – Academy Award Winner for Best Animated Feature

Academy Award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki has written and directed a new original tale. Legendary production company Studio Ghibli, creators of Spirited Away, have worked with him again to create the masterpiece. The theme song for the film, Spinning Globe, was penned and performed by global J-pop superstar Kenshi Yonezu. It features the voices of Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Karen f*ckuhara, Mark Hamill, Robert Pattinson and Florence Pugh.

This film is in Japanese with English subtitles. Ster Kinekor and Nu Metro are offering both subtitled and dubbed showings of the film (find subtitled only at The Labia).

UPCYCLE: Office Furniture Reimagined

Global design and build leader Tétris Design and Build has enlisted artists and designers to create a collection of artworks upcycled from decommissioned office furniture. In an exercise of reimagining what is old and unused, the artists demonstrate how design can shape a more conscious and sustainable workspace. On the Friday, design students are welcomed for a special student-focused day, and on the Saturday there will be a free curated walkabout with the designers at 11am. Entrance is free, and there is secure paid parking at Makers Landing. Those attending on Friday can also catch the venue’s weekly live jazz concert (free).

Finding the Light – An Evening With Musical Theatre Stars

Finding the Light – An Evening With Musical Theatre Stars – is the culmination of a coordinated international fundraising drive with the Kolisi Foundation. Experience some of musical theatre’s best loved shows, with 100% of net proceeds going towards supporting the work of the foundation. Audiences can look forward songs from shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, West Side Story, Company and many more, with the exquisite on-stage accompaniment of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Table Mountain Cableway Charity Challenge

One of the most popular fundraising events in Cape Town, the Cableway Charity Challenge,takes place this Saturday. With a goal is to raise R1m for organisations who support Capetonians in need, this unique mass hiking event invites individuals, corporate teams, and school groups to ascend Platteklip Gorge as many times as they can between sunrise (7.13am) and sunset (6.17pm).

Cost:Entry is free but it is required to register as a participant and to raise a minimum of R3,000 for the nominated beneficiaries. The sponsorship process is fully automated and it is surprisingly easy to raise the money.

Kurt Schoonraad Lunch and Show at Franschhoek Cellar

Spend an afternoon with the man behind the legendary Cape Town Comedy Club, a global stand-up comedy landmark. Enjoy side-splittingly frank observations from a unique personal perspective alongside a delicious lunch and a welcome glass of Franschhoek Cellar wine. Note: this show is PG16+-.
